How QR code stickers can help tradies get more reviews

Reviews are the highest-leverage marketing a trade business has, and asking for them is the part everyone hates. A sticker removes the asking.

A Google review is worth more to a local trade business than almost any advertising spend, and most tradies have far fewer than their work deserves. The reason is rarely that customers are unhappy. It is that asking feels awkward and gets forgotten by the time you are back in the ute.

Use the review link, not your website

This is the detail that decides whether it works. In your Google Business Profile there is an option to get a short link for reviews — it opens the review dialogue directly. Use that.

If the code points at your website or your general Google listing, the customer has to find the review section themselves, and roughly half of them will not. The whole point is to remove steps.

Size it so it actually scans

A QR code needs physical size. As a rough rule it should be at least 25 mm across to scan comfortably from arm's length, and considerably larger if it will be read from further away. A code sharing a 100 mm sticker with a logo and three lines of text will end up too small.

Either give the code most of the sticker, or order a dedicated code sticker alongside your normal branded one. The configurator warns you when the code is going to print too small for the size you have picked.

Where to put it

  • On the invoice or quote folder you hand over
  • Inside a cupboard door, beside the meter box, or on equipment you installed
  • On the vehicle — but larger, because it is read from further away
  • On a small card left on the bench at the end of the job

Point it at something you control

Printed codes cannot be edited. If there is any chance the destination will change — you move to a different review platform, you rebuild your booking system — point the code at a short link you own and redirect that link instead. Doing this before you order 500 costs nothing; doing it afterwards costs 500 stickers.

Test it before you buy

The preview on our configurator renders the real generated code, not a placeholder. Scan it off your screen and confirm it lands exactly where you expect.
