Best stickers for electricians

Electricians have two distinct sticker problems and they are usually solved with one order, badly. The vehicle is about being found. The board is about being remembered.

The switchboard sticker outlives everything

A 100 mm sticker inside a switchboard door will still be there in fifteen years. It will be read by the owner, by a tenant, by a real estate agent, by a building inspector, and by the next sparky who opens that panel. In every one of those moments yours is the only number in the room.

The mistake is ordering fifty of them. At 250 or 500 the per-unit price drops to the point where leaving one at every job is automatic rather than considered — and the value of this sticker is entirely a function of how many boards carry it.

Standard advice applies: 200 mm or larger on a van or ute door, white vinyl, three lines of text. If you do emergency or after-hours work, reflective is worth it for the same reason it is for plumbers.

Clear vinyl for commercial glass

A lot of commercial electrical work is in glass-fronted premises, and clear vinyl on a shopfront makes artwork appear printed onto the glass rather than stuck on it. Worth knowing about: dark logos on clear vinyl look excellent, pale ones lose contrast against a bright interior and should be avoided.

A note on test and tag

If you do test and tag work, that is a separate labelling requirement with its own standards and it is not what this product is. Do not try to substitute a printed vinyl sticker for a compliant test tag.
